Too much information can be too much information.
Such is the case with a neighborhood listserve on which we get reports of every little incident called into the police.
Last week there was a flurry of email messages responding to concerns about three burglaries over three days.
Some people want to close off the bottom of the street, which feeds into an “escape route” otherwise known as a more major road.
Others propose paving the street with cobblestones to inhibit non-residents driving through.
Others are demanding a stepped-up police presence.
There’s a neighborhood meeting next week with the chief of police, so we’ll see what comes of that.
Meanwhile, my landlords are considering activating a security alarm system. I’m making sure to double-bolt the outside door every time I leave the apartment.
